Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have led to power cuts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and encountered problems to water supplies, as stated by local authorities.

Meanwhile, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has increased assaults on electrical systems over recent weeks, while officials has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing restrictions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles attacked energy facilities, labeling such strikes as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, according to city authorities.
